Light Science is run entirely on donations, and retail commissions on sales from the online store. Commissions from the store do not line anyone's pockets, but rather channel back into Light Science in general to assist it to run and conduct its various projects and endeavors. Light Science doesn't require much to run effectively, but has in the past shut down for months at a time due to a complete lack of funding, and so we open the way to recieve gratefully from anyone who may feel called to assist in this endeavour.

Here is an idea of some of our costs :

It costs $180 CAD per year to cover the domain name and hosting for the website. This is the most important part, as the website is the crux of Light Science's outreach and continual work in the art world.

We would like to publish a book, which could be done for a loan of somewhere between $5,000 and $10,000, in order to properly pay the artists, writers, designers, contributors, and then actually print in advance a large amount of the books for proper distribution. This kind of initial investment would allow the book to repay its own initial costs.

We're also very open to ideas about projects that could happen which are aligned with the purpose of Light Science, from those with funding to back their ideas.
