Emerging in a time of great transformation and upheaval are the lineage bearers of an ancient and perennial stream of cultural creation. Traditionally stewards of the arts and sciences, a chain of researchers and inventors, dreamers and dancers, artists and artisans, philosophers and politicians, poets and diviners have been inspiring the creation of new culture. Light Science is a meeting place for the modern manifestation of this visionary culture lineage that stretches back into the mists of deep time and forward into the infinite futures ahead.

Concerned with the healing and transformation of our world and all the living things within it, visionary culture is a cross discipline approach to enhancing the growth and refining the impact of human development. Grounded in a universal ethic of love and community, visionary culture supports the evolution of cultural expression and seeks to provide safe habitats for elements, beings, ideas, cultures and art-forms to grow sustainably.

With the new movements establishing planetary grid of community networks linked by the growth of the world-wide-web and other communication technologies, comes a newly empowered form of visionary culture. We are able to learn about the incredible advances in art, music, dance, performance, science and all other cultural disciplines from an increasing number of locations worldwide. Illustrating this globalization of knowledge is the current large festival circuit in which millions of people worldwide are a part. People travel by planes, cars and buses to meet up with like-minded people from the four corners of the earth. And yet the festival culture is just one glowing manifestation of the modern implications of visionary culture for the development of human civilization, look into any field of human endeavour and at the cusp you will find evidence of visionary culture.

Through the modern media one can see the introduction of forward thinking ideas into the context of the larger population. The new media steams which allow us to communicate across a great distance with each other, and which provide infrastructure to organize large globally attended gatherings also provides us with vast promotional networks to which all manner of cultural information can be transmitted. The local is indeed going global and individual visionaries who are proposing huge changes in their fields of action can reach out for financial and promotional support from other visionaries and visionary communities worldwide. Where in the past such future thinkers might be prevented from finding their place in the culture, now they be affirmed by the like-minded and can more often see their dreams come into manifestation.

As the visionary can be seen clearly in the emerging streams of human culture, it is a more powerful than ever in raising important dialogues about harmony and healing, ecological renewal, habitat restoration, green technology, right livelihood, spiritual experience and sustainable development.
